We’re proud to announce Te Kura o Ngāti Whātua ki Tāmaki, scheduled to open during Matariki 2026.
initially for Year 9 and Year 10 ākonga.
Our first group of ākonga and whānau will help shape the culture and direction of our kura.
Joining from the beginning means being part of building traditions, shaping experiences, and growing the kura for future generations.
More details will be shared as the kura moves through the establishment phase.
Te Kura o Ngāti Whātua ki Tāmaki is a kura Māori grounded in Ngāti Whātua values, identity, and history.
Built for our rangatahi our kura will support them to stand strong in their identity, in te ahurea Māori, and in Ngāti Whātua, while growing uri who are confident, prosperous, and well.

Te Kura o Ngāti Whātua ki Tāmaki is a new kura Hourua (charter school) led by Ngāti Whātua Ōrākei. It is a reo Māori immersion secondary kura grounded in Ngāti Whātua identity, history, and aspirations. It has been established to provide rangatahi with a strong cultural foundation while preparing them to thrive in Te Ao Hurihuri.
